What Enterprise Client Management Does

Enterprise Client Management maintains several leading edge, enterprise network technologies to provide a reliable, efficient system of desktop management that localized department administrators and support staff can use to manage their own machines.  These enterprise systems include Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 (SMS), Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server 4.5 and Symantec Ghost Corporate Edition 11.  To see how ECM leverages each of these technologies, click the appropriate logo below.

For a detail description on how ECM uses each technology, click on the logos...

Other ECM Services
  • Patch Management.  SMS and Group Policy allow for the monitoring and application of important Windows Updates and Services Packs on a pro-active basis.

  • ITC Lab and Classnet Systems.  In addition to maintaining these systems for other departmental administrators to use, Enterprise Client Management directly manages the ITC lab and Classnet PCs, including building the images and ensuring their reliability using Microsoft SMS and Symantec Ghost Corporate Edition.

  • Research Emerging Technologies.  ECM researches other emerging enterprise network technologies to reduce costs or improve the efficiency of the support model at the University of Iowa.

  • Training.  ECM provides training from time to time on the enterprise products we manage and for such topics as how to use Group Policy Objects (GPOs) on the University of Iowa network.

  • Miscellaneous Projects.  Other miscellaneous projects such as those using Microsoft Terminal Services for remote application delivery.
